Hotel with Swimming Pond: The Yorkshire Spa Retreat

The Yorkshire Spa Retreat is one of the UK’s first commercial Swimming Ponds, designed for 40 daily guests to swim year-round in chemical-free water. This 400 m² pond is the focal point of the spa garden, surrounded by pollinator-friendly plants. A shallow 13 m x 4.5 m swim zone is encircled by a curving regeneration zone. Challenges included integrating the filters beneath sun decks to maximize space. Within six months, the pool increased biodiversity, attracting newts, amphibians, and bats. Offering guests a unique, nature-immersed experience, the pool consistently attracts the maximum capacity of visitors, exceeding the clients expectations, and has won multiple awards!
