Natural Pool with a Scandinavian Touch

The pool is located in the display area of a craftsman’s shop for modern oven and fireplace design, creative hearths and outdoor kitchens. It’s almost as if you’ve been transported to the heart of Sweden. The Natural Pool with its rectangular layout displays a consistent internal structure, which emulates the vegetation zones of a natural lake in a stylized form. A floating leaf zone with luxuriant plant growth borders the two-meter deep pool and eight-meter long swimming area. White water lilies, amphibious bistort with fine floating leaves, mare’s-tail and river water-crowfoot covered in a multitude of white blossoms all dominate the scenery. One level lower, pondweed and similar aquatic plants have completely taken over up to a depth of 1 m. Separated by a barely visible wall, the reed bed zone is directly adjacent; here the plant filter is filled with bright yellow water irises. The water flows slowly downward through the gravel in the filter, thereby undergoing continual mechanical and biological filtration. Like a wide Scandinavian swimming pier, the wooden decking and the wooden ladder separate the swimming area from the Swedish-style houses.
